The Program Resiliensi dan Optimasi Generasi Esok bagi Waris Penerima Pencen Illat Bantuan PERKESO (PROGRES) program was successfully held from 24 to 26 May 2024 at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sintok. Designed to uplift and inspire children of PERKESO assistance recipients, the program focused on fostering resilience, boosting self-esteem, and providing participants with the unique experience of university life.

The three-day program aimed to:

  1. Increase the academic motivation and awareness of students from families receiving PERKESO assistance.
  2. Build resilience, foster self-efficacy, and enhance self-esteem among the participants.
  3. Provide an immersive opportunity for students to experience university life, promoting higher education aspirations.

The program welcomed 40 students, primarily Form 3 to Form 5 students from families of SOCSO assistance recipients in Kedah. Over three days and two nights, participants engaged in a variety of motivational and educational activities designed to inspire academic success and personal growth.

The program was supported by Bachelor of Human Resource Management Minor Social Security Management (BHRM Minor SSM) students, who served as the program’s secretariat, ensuring the smooth execution of all activities.

One of the highlights of the PROGRES program was the motivational session conducted by Amin Idris, a renowned independent Malaysian speaker and motivator. Known for his engaging and impactful talks, Amin’s session resonated deeply with the participants, inspiring them to strive for personal and academic excellence.

In addition, PERKESO representatives conducted workshops and sessions tailored to the participants, emphasizing resilience, goal-setting, and the importance of education as a pathway to a brighter future.

Participants had the chance to explore the UUM campus, interact with university students, and gain a glimpse into campus life. The experience aimed to ignite aspirations for higher education among the attendees, many of whom expressed newfound determination to pursue university studies in the future.

The PROGRES program aligns with PERKESO’s commitment to not only provide financial assistance but also to invest in the holistic development of the next generation. By equipping participants with resilience and motivation, the program contributes to building a future generation that is empowered, confident, and capable of overcoming life’s challenges.

Participants and their families expressed gratitude for the program, citing its positive impact on their outlook and ambitions. One participant shared, “This program has opened my eyes to the possibilities of what I can achieve. I now feel more confident to work towards my dreams.”

The PROGRES program concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, where the organizers, participants, and speakers celebrated the success of the event. The initiative highlighted the power of education, resilience, and community support in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

“The future belongs to those who dare to dream, and through PROGRES, we ensure these dreams are within reach for every child,” said a program representative.

With its success in 2024, the PROGRES program is expected to continue as a transformative initiative, empowering the next generation and reaffirming PERKESO’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth and resilience in the community.
