SOCSO Outreach & CSR Program Empowers Rural and Orang Asli Communities

The SOCSO Outreach & CSR Program 2023 was successfully held on 15 July 2023 at the Felda Tun Ghafar Hutan Percha Multipurpose Hall, Alor Gajah. Organized by Bachelor of Human Resource Management (Minor Social Security Management [Minor SSM]) students, the program aimed to strengthen SOCSO’s outreach efforts by disseminating critical information about its products, services, and role in providing social security protection in Malaysia.
Key Objectives
- To raise awareness of SOCSO’s products, services, and role as the leader in social security protection.
- To provide support to the rural community in FELDA Tun Ghafar Hutan Percha and the local Orang Asli community.
The program featured various activities designed to foster community engagement and strengthen ties between participants. These included:
- Gotong-royong activities, such as painting and community clean-up initiatives.
- Preparation of bubur lambuk, symbolizing unity and cooperation among participants.
- Children’s coloring competitions, which added excitement and joy to the event.
- Briefing and information sessions on SOCSO products and services, including the registration of SOCSO schemes to ensure the community understood and accessed available benefits.
The program was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Adly Zahari, Deputy Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for Alor Gajah. Also in attendance were:
- Yang Berhormat Tuan Ngwe Hee Sem, Melaka State Health, Human Resources, and Unity Exco as well as Machap Assemblyman.
- Representatives from the Department of Orang Asli Affairs (JKOA).
The SOCSO Outreach & CSR Program brought together diverse groups, including FELDA residents and the local Orang Asli community, fostering inclusivity and unity. The event also allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of social security protection, particularly for rural and underserved communities.
This program showcased SOCSO’s commitment to expanding its outreach efforts and engaging with communities across Malaysia. The involvement of students, government representatives, and community members highlighted the significance of collaboration in promoting awareness and ensuring that social security protection benefits reach all corners of society.
In his speech, Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Adly Zahari emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Programs like this reflect the value of solidarity and the critical role of social security in safeguarding the well-being of our people, particularly in rural areas.”
The SOCSO Outreach & CSR Program 2023 stands as a testament to the power of community engagement, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward a more secure and inclusive Malaysia.
