The 4th Young Entrepreneur Carnival was held on 6-8 May 2017 at UUM’s Cultural Arts Center. The carnival was jointly organized by the students from the class of Entrepreneur Behaviors and Skills (BPME 2013) and Entrepreneurial networking (BPME 3063). The carnival aims to provide an avenue for students to apply their knowledge gained in their Entrepreneurship class in a real business environment particularly related to organizing public events such as a carnival. By being involved in the event, the students have gained the opportunity to enhance their communication skills, teamwork as well as strengthen their personal business networking skills.
Under the leadership of the Program’s Director, Mr. Mohamad Hafizuddin Shahidin, the carnival was a resounding success. As much as 40 innovative products created by students were commercialized during the carnival. The organizing team also managed to convince 45 business owners from Changlun, Jitra to showcase and promote their products. To liven up the carnival atmosphere a variety of activities such as Zumba, colouring contests, games, karaoke, cultural performance was organized. Three mascots designed by students made the carnival a memorable event. The lecturers from both classes, Dr Donny Abdulatief Poespowidjojo, Dr Shamsul Huda Bt Abd Rani and Dr Armanurah Binti Mohamad were very pleased to see the creativity, teamwork and spirit among their students and concluded that the carnival achieved its overall objective.
Dean of SBM, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah was invited for the opening and closing ceremony. Also present were the Deputy Dean of SBM, Head of Departments, as well as visitors from Universiti Negeri Padang, Indonesia. All parties gave positive reviews of the carnival.
