The Role of the Dean

The Dean’s role is to explore and enhance the ability of the School to achieve its vision and mission in order to have a profound impact on the way the country, region, and world does business. The Dean focuses on the School’s long-term sustainability on teaching and learning, research and publication, and financial security through smart partnership, strategic collaboration and fundraising.  

He also develops and encourages innovation and creative initiatives in all aspects of the School’s operations. He helps the School’s major functions to achieve their objectives, explore opportunities, works to resolve or mitigate problems, and monitors as well as takes action to meet risks to the School’s position.

The Dean also fulfils a number of representational and organizational roles, including setting the strategic direction of the school, working closely with key stakeholders such as the governing body, academic and support staffs, students, alumni, and donors.

About the Dean

Professor Dr. Haim Hilman was a Director at Corporate Planning Unit, UUM; Director at Corporate Planning Division, UUM; Director at Institute of Quality Management, UUM; and a Professor of Strategic Management at School of Business Management, UUM. Aside from lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, he is also actively involved in research and publication activities.  His research interests are in the field of business management, strategic management, and measurement of performance.    

Professor Dr. Haim’s career has spanned significantly from working in the public and private sectors in various industries, which includes automotive, retail, and service sectors before joining UUM in 2000. He also has been appointed as chairman, secretary, and members to numerous committees at university, national and international levels.
